Your guide for the day

Your guide: Mark Purrett

I decided to start Skye Geography Tours because I am passionate about the natural landscape, fascinated by its formation and features, and wanted to share my enjoyment, and the knowledge I have built up over the years, with other people.

I am particularly interested by the vast geological wealth of Skye, the fabulous glacial evidence clearly seen on the island, and the variety of ecosystems and wildlife present, alongside the changes brought by humans in more recent years.

With a degree and a teaching qualification in Geography, I have taught in Skye for 20 years, gaining extensive experience leading fieldwork and organising trips for pupils in Skye and further afield.

During my time on Skye, I have found many geological treasures in the nooks and vistas of the island which I would love to have the opportunity to share and interpret with you.
